“The body is your temple. Keep it pure and clean for the soul to reside in.” Happy Monday ya’ll! It’s been a few months since I’ve made a blog post and let me tell you my life has changed. Like a lot. Then again, I’m 21 and they were right they say you change. I’ve grown spiritually and emotionally and it’s been amazing. Yes there have been not so great moments but that’s part of the process. I’ve learned to empty my mind and spirit of thoughts and beliefs that aren’t me anymore. Ones that were keeping me from truly being myself on this blog. That might sound odd but when I started this blog I wanted to make sure I was my authentic self. Otherwise you would be getting some how to and self-development information without a face. And let’s be honest that is a way that people present themselves on social media. And I didn’t want that to happen. Therefore I’d like to share with you some habits that I’ve developed that might help some of ya’ll out. Some of these I’ve been doing for a sometime while others it’s been much more recent. 1. Getting Up Early Yes I’m being serious. As foreign as that sounds. I. Get. Up. Early. This is something I didn’t think would ever happen. I got up early all throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school [and honestly…I don’t know how I did that. I’m so beyond serious when I say that]. But that changed when I became a sophomore in college. I decided that I needed to give myself a break. I needed to let it slide. And to be honest that’s okay. But there comes a point where it goes a little too far. This past summer I became a bit more aware of that fact. Furthermore, if I want to manifest physical things in my life then I need to get up with the sun. I need to feel the warmth of gratitude, love, and peace that exists in all of us. Doing this sets up my day in a way that helps me function normally. And for the first time I feel really good about it. Typically I get up at 6:30 AM. To some of you that might sound extreme but I’ve found this time to be beneficial to me in the most amazing of ways. Doing this helps me focus and be in the present moment. I take a moment to appreciate the things that I have and what’s coming to me. 2. Not Being On My Phone I’m not sure if this one’s a habit but it’s definitely something that I do quite often, especially in the morning. I forget that I have a phone sometimes. This habit helps me focus on my intentions for the day and what I’d like to accomplish. Also I’ve turned into someone who doesn’t go on social media that much. Don’t get me wrong I go on my phone for school and keeping touch with friends and family. Those things are important. Although I’ve been off track, especially in the afternoons. This is one of the reasons when I recommend that people follow positive, spiritual, and uplifting accounts. Not to worry I’m getting better now that my senior year of college has begun. The key to remember is that the phone is a tool not your life. Don’t. Get. It. Twisted. And yes this is the phone I use every day. It looks janky because I am clumsy being. This case has done me some good. “When you accept what is, every moment is the best moment. That is enlightenment.” (And yes I quote that Tolle guy a lot). 3. Meditation (Duh) I know I sound like a broken record but it’s true. Mediation is a practice that clears and rejuvenates my mind in the most amazing of ways. And I know I’m not the only one. I feel the most in touch with myself and the universe. My worries and doubts drift away and there is only this present moment. I think about all of the things I’m grateful for and my desires as if they are already there. Cause technically they are there. Just not in its physical form. But most importantly I think of right now. I think of the beautiful stillness that is right now. 4. Doing the “hardest tasks” in the Morning This is has been a life saver for me. In fact it's been key in almost every part of my life. Now that I’m in school it can be a little difficult. Nevertheless I find ways to do it. I think of this as just a situation. It’s not good or bad. It’s just a situation. Thus I don’t need to complain or worry. It’s all a part of the flow of life. “Yoga is a dance between control and surrender — between pushing and letting go — and when to push and to let go becomes part of the creative process, part of the open-ended exploration of your well-being.” 5. Yoga (AKA where my inner peace and desires live) As I’ve said before I’ve changed. There have been many shifts and changes in my life. I’m still vegan (that will never change) but it’s being a senior in college that is low key freaking me out. It’s scary to know that I’ll suddenly have nothing to do. At the same time I felt it coming. I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle it though. Instead I trusted the universe and it gave me yoga. The practice my soul, body, and mind needed. I like to think of it as a silent teacher who gives many lessons not only about myself but the world in general. There are too many lessons to name so not going to get into them right now. Then again it could be in another post I do that. And man that would be epic. Anyways I do yoga every morning. Or most mornings. Sometimes it ends up being late at night or in the afternoon. It really depends on my schedule. The sequence vary. I repeat certain sequences because they make me feel good or I can work on head stands. The point is that my yoga practice furthers my gratitude and meditation practice. I didn't include a photo of me doing yoga because I'd like to get better at my headstands and honestly...get better at taking "sporty-like" photos in general. I hope ya’ll enjoyed this post. I believe that it happened in it's own divine timing and I couldn't feel better about it. These aren’t the only habits that have changed my life but I think it’s important to share with the world what’s been working for me. In all honesty, I’m not joking when I say that these habits have changed my life. They have lifted my worries and doubts like no other. I’m much more positive and personable. Yes my introvert side does get the best of me but I’m working on it. And I know that it’s going to be okay. Furthermore I hear a lot of twenty somethings talk about how they feel “unbalanced” and “need a change.” Well I’m here to tell you that I was there and I understand. And I'm still understanding the questions of life and what it means to live and thrive. I hope ya’ll have a great day/night!
