Happy Sunday ya’ll! Today’s post is all about positive affirmations. It’s about the statements that have been my saving grace these past few weeks. I believe that what you tell yourself (even if it’s a lie), you will believe it. It’s like the saying, “you will become trash if you hang with trash.” I recommend saying these as a part of a morning or evening meditation. It will feel weird at first but that’s okay. When we’ve been feeling bad it can be difficult to believe in ourselves again. But on a more personal note I felt like I needed to share these with you all because, well, life happened to me. This week was hard. In fact it was difficult. I had a mental breakdown. It was liberating and sad at the same time. It was a mixture of being in the moment and having withdrawals from not being on social media. I found I had to deal with, how do I put this lightly, my actual problems. Part of it was dealing with the growing pains of becoming an adult and another part of feeling an overwhelming amount of uncertainty. In other words, I felt like quitting theatre and dance. I felt like quitting in general. To put things in short: It’s the last month of the semester and I feel like my entire world was crumbling. And at this moment, it felt like my entire life and this vision I had for myself was a joke. That I couldn’t actually get or make a job for myself. It was terrifying. I let myself cry and told myself some of these affirmations. This is how I get through my hard days. The days where it feels unbearable to get up or where I find myself in a mental funk. I used to think my struggles were greater than everybody else’s. But I realize that is not the truth. The truth is our struggles come from the same place. A place of pain and hurt. Pain from our childhood, young adulthood, etc.. That may be why I feel for people who throw shade at others. I pray that they find peace and love in their lives. Otherwise they wouldn’t feel the need to say nasty comments. These affirmations are my saving grace. It’s become a habit of mine to say them every morning and night. I believe our minds get so caught up in our anxieties and fears that we need to remember our truth. Without further ado here are the affirmations.
There are so many more that I could share with ya’ll but these are just a few. The affirmations that help me the most are the ones relating to my personality. We live in a culture that idolizes a specific image and not enough on who we are as people. I feel like this needs to change. Big time. I literally can't stress to people how awesome they are. We cut ourselves short all too often and I'd like to see that change. With that being said, I hope these help you throughout your day. Namaste.
